Is there a way to tag threads that show in Active Topics as weather they are RP or not? |

Not at this point (although it’s been asked for). However, when you go to reply, you can see which forum it is up at the top (Flamebate > forum name > thread name). From there, it’s easy enough to tell if you’re in a role-playing forum or not. |

There shouldn’t be themes in non-RP boards: just GAME for Game Discussion, GAMES for Playing with Ourselves, etc. |

Added this, because I’m tired of doing research:
INSTA-BAN RULE FOUR: DON’T PRETEND TO BE SOMEONE PERMABANNED Because if you do, even in role-playing forums, we won’t take time to research it — we’ll trust you. And treat you accordingly. And if you’re stupid enough to let someone else use your account and they do this, that’s your own damn fault. (This rule to preserve moderator time.) |

How about browser hijacks misleadingly linked in IDC?
Maximum Douche: http://halflife2.zoy.or /
There was some linking of this one the other night with people pretending it was a great HalfLife 2 fansite as well. |

Forumwarz Referrer Checks should be bannable too.
User FalconFour made a referrer check on his site, http://www.falconfour.com (IF YOU CLICK ON THIS THROUGH FORUMWARZ, SHOCK WARNING), because of this thread so everyone who clicks on it through forumwarz is redirected to Last Measure. |

The browser hijacker redirect is a tough call. In falcon’s case, we can tell it’s his site. It may not be obvious in the future. Since tesfan posted the link, he’d normally get banned, but we know it wasn’t Tesfan’s fault this time. |

You should know to check links in IDC. It’s a giant free-for-all so it’s up to the clicker to ensure they aren’t going to somewhere they don’t want to.
I also added a bit to the OP:
Duplicate threads are popping up all over the place. When making a game-related thread, do a search related to your topic and see if something comes up. Check the forum you’re going to post it in to see if there’s the same idea right there in the topic list. If there is an identical or similar thread, just bump it. Dupes aren’t against the rules and won’t be, but they are annoying. TUBSWEETIE edited this message on 11/02/2008 1:27AM |

It’s against the rules to fake a link that really leads to a hijack site even in RP forums, despite the fact that everybody should know how to check link targets with a mouseover. Why is that extra step the bannable part? Why doesn’t it apply to IDC?
I think this is even more of a problem with hijacks than with shock sites, because shock sites tend to be much more well known. I don’t want to have to google every link in chat before I click on it, just in case somebody’s being a douchebag (well, more of a douchebag than usual). |

That’s a good point. Maybe when IDC logging turns on it’ll be do-able. Right now we have no proof unless a mod is actually in chat when it happens. Taking someone’s word for it isn’t good enough. It would be a good idea to make url tags disabled so they only show the link and no user-text. |
