35 Hacker, failing at life

With 159 offense, 124 def, 83 luck, and 1220 ego, I can’t seem to pwn any forums level 33 or higher. The issue isn’t PP. After two threads, I’ve usually lost a quarter or half of my ego. I don’t want to use consumables to pwn. What am I doing wrong? |

Or maybe, look into consumables.
There are many threads on how hackers are underpowered in comparison to other clbumes. Please don’t turn this one into one of those. Let’s all focus on the build. |

Drop luck, raise ego. 1200 isn’t nearly enough to pwn lvl 35 forums without consumables.
For the sake of comparison, I’ve got 4090 ego, 120 offense, 124 defense, 13 luck, 23 frugality, 37 charisma, and 10 upkeep. I was having trouble pwning lvl 33+ forums up until I re-specced above 2000 ego at the expense of frugality, charisma, luck, and upkeep. At this point, I can do level 35 forums with no consumables and a good 500-1000 ego left over, depending on how often they hit.
Also, is there any particular reason you’re trying to pwn without consumables? Just curious – it’s not as if it’s a mortal sin to use them, after all, and at level 30+, you really shouldn’t be having problems coming up with enough flezz to afford a steady flow of them and still be making some profit. Get more Ego, simple as that. I still pwn at a comfortable pace on my Hacker alt with 8000-some Ego 163 Offense, and 124 Defense, and never get nearly low enough Ego that I use any consumable items. Ravaryn edited this message on 02/23/2009 8:50PM |

As a cam I need over 6000 ego to get a 95% of the time no consumable pwning of Cosplay and Fetish. (The other 5% I need to use a couple of the +300 ego bumps.) I found that pumping the points into Ego rather than defense is more effective for non-consumable pwning, but that might not be the case for a clbum that has a higher natural (equipment) defense base. |

Defense doesn’t do nearly enough against 350-450 damage hits. Ego is really were it’s at. |

Here’s my build for a level 35 hacker with good equipment: Put enough points into ego for about 4000 points. Put everything else into offense. If there are points remaining, put them into upkeep.
With that, here’s my stats: Ego 4005 Proc. Power 320 Offense 178 Defense 116 Luck 68 Frugality 13 Charisma 39 Upkeep 3

Possibly a Cabbage Posted: That is odd, you should easily be able to speed almost anything except the forums that have big health. My hackers can one shot a majority of the forums. Are you using the bg attacks? Stop using them, they ruin your life unless you adblock all the images.

Well, to be honest, all I ever do these days is 5 JP jobs, and those aren’t available on anything I can one-shot (thankfully high luck means I almost always get 4 untimed ones). I could probably speed run everything I can one-shot.
