.moar file database - searchable database | |||||||

I know we have the wiki, but I seem to remember someone discussing entering all of the acgreat timesulated data into a database like Excel, so that it could be sorted easily to find certain attribute combination and such.
Is anyone currently working on anything like this? |

I have a list of all files as a .txt file and don’t know what to do with it, except mark those I have red |

You could import the list to Excel. Only catch is, you probably have it in the bizarre “attributes updated come in random orders” which they’re coded with Log in to see images!
But if you want to sort them, it’s easy enough to import the data into Excel. |

If someone gives me all the info, I’ll make something up. |

That’s what I’m envisioning. Being able to sort through all the .moar files to see if there’s a certain Picture File that is better than the one you have, and using that info to narrow your search on Kyoubai would be extremely helpful to a lot of people. I’d be willing to help out in a project like that. |

Google doc registered under a dummy shared ForwumWarz@Gmail account would be a possibility, provided someone like a mod has the rights to pbumword overrides and such |

I’d honestly just do it to be nice. Everyone get me the info for it, and I’ll put it together. |

Thanks, Desdi! I for one am looking forward to this, and will send a BP your way, as thanks, once it’s done. And I encourage others to do the same. A searchable database of .moar files (especially one that can be constantly updated) will be extremely useful! |

I don’t want to make things more complicated than they have to be, but I’m not sure if an Excel spreadsheet is the best-suited format for such a database… Anyone ever considered to put up some kind of simple webscript + mySQL database? Log in to see images! |

If you’re just looking to sort what file will best sort the build you’re looking for, then Excel is fine. If you’re looking to make something more grand, then you may have to look into something more. I’ll have the Dogreat timesents done in about 10 minutes. As of right now I’m just putting the stats for each file and the pieces, and making it easy to sort, I’ll add the forums in shortly. |

Excellent so far. It was easy to export to .xls and sort the data I needed.
Much appreciated! |

By ummm total coincidence I actually did this for myself earlier this evening
http://www.mediafire.com/meeeeeeeeee
Basically it was an interim step – the intention was to transform the data into a format I could put into the wiki as a sortable table. Next was to export as csv then do a few regexp search+replaces on the text file, but that’s for tomorrow unless someone beats me to it. |
