Slight revision of buildr score | |||||||

Since the Most Buildr Score leaderboard is effectively unreachable for the same reason as the Most Forums Pwned leaderboard, why not introduce a way to slowly get ahead?
In addition to the possible gain of 2 per week, give ForumBuildr Alpha and the winning forum idea 1 bonus buildr score each. |

Actually I had an idea of my own about buildr.
What I would like to see to make the buildr leaderboard more accessible, is a system in place where in order to get your score to go higher, you have to do progressively better. Currently, buildr score appears to be driven merely by how many you have voted off. If a majority of your submissions don’t get voted off, there you go.
What I would propose instead is grade the buildr score. Arrange it so that the higher your buildr score goes, the better you have to do. A score of 15 would let you have five or so things voted off, score of 17 three things voted off before it goes down, 19 maybe one thing voted off, and you have to get a perfect record of nothing voted off for anything over that in order for your score to go up anymore. since with a large number of entries it’s almost impossible to avoid at least a few getting voted off, it would ensure that people couldn’t get inaccessibly high. |

That idea has some good points, but I think it would be a problem for those who submit ideas for more stable categories (e.g. typical posts and angry replies) as opposed to volatile ones (especially forum ideas). |

That would make your decisions about which categories to enter a strategic choice. |

Actually, I’ve been backing off on my entries or putting them on my multi so others might have a shot at the top spot.
That’s not to say I won’t go down without a fight. Log in to see images! |

Yeah, I submitted a ton of avatar ideas a couple of weeks in a row to bring my buildr score down right after I got the peen, but then only one person pbumed me. |

Even though I’m confident I can get there eventually, it’ll still take months. |

Ive only been doing forumbuildr for 3 months and I am somehow in the top 20 score wise. If all the top people are going at the same rate toward the same goal I really shouldn’t be moving that fast upward. |

Is buildr score the problem? Or the leaderboard? Like you said the same problem exists with most forums pwned. I think that once a player gets the peen from topping the leaderboard, and should he maintain it, it should only be held as the climax to reach for a set period of time (say, 2 weeks) at which point that player is ‘retired’ from the leaderboard and their current ranking at the time of rollover is the new set marker (this way it doesnt automatically go to the next in line).
In fact I’m 99% sure I’ve already posted this suggestion. |

I really support this idea.
Also, most people quit doing ForumBuildr after they get around 15, cuz they have most of the peens by then. That’s why you and I seemingly move up the ranks so quickly, dob, even when everyone else could be getting 2 per week too. |
