fixed. In the sense that you’ll get no hardware effects and be limited to 2 channel output.

There’s a free hacked version of creative’s ALchemy software that patches dsound games to run off OpenAL, though. That usually fixes games for me.

that is my biggest beef. Audio is ruined in vista. who the **** thinks it’s a good idea to put load back onto the CPU when most avid enthusiasts have dedicates sound cards?!

Also protected media pipeline that cripples high def outputs and checks for hacking attempts constantly, which by the way uses encryption abominably slow for realtime apps like video/audio.
