Doesn’t Prop 8 contradict that constitution Americans will never let you forget about?
Seriously. I have no idea how politics in that crazy, seemingly ****ed up country work.
Please enlighten me. |

It’s coming up on a lot of sites as a Google Ad without sitemasters authorizing it. I’ve been hearing about it across the Internet all day. |

These are the voting results from my county (one of the suckiest counties in the country).
Down at the bottom are Amendments proposed for our State constitution.
Amendment 2 reads as: Amendment 2 Posted:
**** YOU, Y’ CHRISTfabulous personGY HICKS! Let gays get hitched, it won’t hurt you. Hell, you don’t have to worry about ‘em being around you, since they’d be repulsed by your hostility anyway. It’s a natural segregation of sensibles against bat****ters. There’s a seperation of church and state for a reason, and with gay couples willing to raise kids were some families have no intent to breed or |

The odd fact is that individual States are allowed to pbum illegal laws. For instance, the state of Michigan pbumed a measure allowing medical marijuana, despite the fact that marijuana is a schedule I (illegal nationwide for any use) drug. The end result is lots of time spent in various courts of law. |

Well, from what I might be surmising right, marriage legally allows couples with kids some breaks and benefits that make such raising-the-next-generation tribulations easier to pull through for both the old farts and the little ****s. I suppose it could be seen as optimal if everything were individual, esp. in instances of single-parent child-rearing, and the thought of poly-member marriages could enter on legal grounds (again, the religious sectors can regulate their own by morality and/or guilt).
EDIT: Heh, one of my local news anchors seemingly flubbed in describing (Cali’s) Proposition 8, saying “socialist issue”, with some impromptu correctiong during the “socialist” bit. TJF588 edited this message on 11/05/2008 7:52AM |

*sigh* Why? I mean, there’s a difference between not agreeing with it and making it so that people who DO can’t. Taking someone’s stuff? That’s provedly bad. Making someone not live anymore? Provedly bad. Letting people who like each other more than most people oughta like each other go ahead and be legally recognised as fused at the hip? Provedly… well, universal. Jeebus, that brain dissection alone has shown that people’s brain can be physically aligned against their sex/gender alone ought be enough to say that excluding emotional bonds based on your body is ****ed up. |

I agree I think people should be able to hook up legal based on emotion and not genital pairings. It will happen oneday though it is mostly old and religious people that vote for these kind of things so in a few years when we become old gay marriage might be possible. |

i thought California pbumed that law too?
and yeah, yes on 8 violates the American constitution, which is why the supreme court has already no’d it once before, and will again i’m sure.
what happened to the seperation of church and state in the US, isn’t that the whole reason the original americans left england? |

8 pbumed, 4 didn’t
4 being requiring the notification of an un-emancipated minor’s parents before performing an abortion.
there is some satisfaction though, the initiative for a hugely expensive high speed rail system going along the coast from north to south cali pbumed, but the only counties that voted yes were the ones along this path, everyone else inland voted no. |
