it’s common for people to hide messages or even other files inside of images so it was pretty easy to figure out

It was actually in the EXIF data. It’s a pretty common way to embed meta data in a JPEG.

I think next time I do a puzzle I’ll put more hints and make things more sensical Log in to see images!
