These have probably been suggested before, but I’m too much of a lazy fabulous person to search.
Critical hits: Sometimes, some things just hit closer to home more often than others, such as a recently deceased mother. Critical hits would boost damage you get hit for.
Random events: It would be sweet if there was, say, a 1/10,000 chance every turn for the thread to get rickroll’d, or something.
Both would remove some of the grind, but would add to a luck factor.

To be quite honest, after dealing with the RNG of various MMOs (Ragnarok/WoW/AoC) on a period of 6 years worth of experience, I don’t think we need more RNG here.
We already got enough to worry about with thread resets (expect PrayPal to reset at 20) or the I’m Gay! E-Peen.
Critical hits would be nice on both sides for a change, but after a while, the RNG will be frustrating. RNGs can be more frustrating then lag itself. |

The whole point of a critical hit is that it can bypbum your defense. Critical hits can do more damage, but most notably is the fact that they automatically hit no matter what kind of armor the target has. I mean defense. Defense, not armor.
So yeah, Defense shouldn’t have any effect on critical hits. I don’t think any stat should protect against critical hits, and I would like anything that makes pwning forums less predictable. On the one hand, has enire has pointed out, it could be somewhat disruptive for people who are trying to accomplish something. But on the other hand, the whole point of getting scoops and epeens for pwning forums is because there’s supposed to be some challenge there. It would be good to have something to keep you on your toes. Besides, at the level of Ego we have, critical hits would only be dangerous on forums like GFoC, Faux News, etc… you’d just have to prepare to expect them.
To make things fair, maybe critical hits would not be part of a forum that has just been made, to give people a chance to know what to expect from the forum. The critical hits could be added to a forum when they get lemon scoops added. |

Yeah, I was thinking critical hits for us against the forum. I don’t see what defense has to do with it. Cirgreat timesvents it. And you’re still the same afterwards albeit less ego. Just happens randomly. |

It would also make ego way more important, since you’d need to have a good cushion just in case a critical hit comes. This would be a serious disadvantage for emokids, who are best off keeping their ego just beyond one hit from death, so as to maximize their power (spoilered for those who haven’t played an emokid yet but plan on trying it). |

Make defense decrease your chance of being critically hit, added with your chance of not being hit. On 1 defense, you have a 30% chance (confirmation? too lazy to check the wiki) of the thread miss you. Make it something like a 20% chance of being critically hit (on 1 Defense) and decrease the chance of being critically hit per point on Defense. |

I’d say that the chances of a critical hit scoring on YOU would be based on luck.
Defense should ease the damage from a critical, but it wouldn’t wipe it out entirely. |

I like the Random events idea. Just something that is rolled once a day, the same time when your delivery comes in or your informed you have been screwed over. A very small chance a random event happens that could positively or negatively effect you:
Ex: Your grandpa has died! you gained 1000 Flezz from inheritance added to your account. **** that old geezer never liked you.
Ex: Ohnoes! you got a virus! Your Computer only gives you 1/2 ego for today until you clean that porno out.
Thinking Cha and Luck, like the delivery content should effect the chances. Cha factoring in how much of a bonus or determent you get, Luck being the one that factors it happening. For my examples, being more charismatic would mean your able to get more money out of your grandfather, and you getting enough in real life not to need AS much porno.
