As we mourn the pbumage of Summer as it begins to give way to the cool breezes of the Fall season, one is re-minded of such wonderful poems as this one from Henry Head’s 1919 Oxford Collexion.

I am loved by little children: Happy girl and laughing boy Cast their tender arms around me, Clamorous with joy.
Baby waking out of slumber To solitary land Gathers open-eyed contentment From my out-stretched hand.
On my arm, he stills his sorrow, At my breast his wailings cease: To by loved by little children Brings me hope and peace.
