I kind of thought that to “Pwn”, one had to actually converse with others, you know, prove you are funnier, sicker, better at HTML or BBCode, have a greater knowledge of historical and/or current Memes, and, at the end, prove, at least to yourself, that you came out “on top” of the exchange of information.
I did not realize that you could “Pwn” a forum simply by ensuring you posted all the threads on page 1.

i like to think of it as derailing a thread. you post enough **** and people will stop talking about the original discussion. people will stop reading.
you do that to every thread, and people stop reading the entire forum.
inbetween runs, i guess a moderator cleans it up a bit.
one good picture of cleavage or kittens is enough to get an old person or scaredy cat to close their browser, i guess.

Oh, and btw, the canonical reason is that the more annoying something is, the more of a mystical 5th energy it produces called “pwnage”, which deletes internet sites. |
