actually, if you can manage to have ten minutes available in the middle of a scheduled raid, you could still participate. Spot generally has that problem as our raids happen in a time frame where he needs to be getting ready for work. he shows up, we let him burn his turns, and off he goes.

with the new method, as long as the anchors are being tended by someone else, a player with just ten minutes to spare could just throw his or her turns in and everyone would be good to go.

Has nothing to do with time management. I work a job during the day and have a family at night. I come online during downtime at work, which I can’t schedule in advance, and when I have a moment or two of not taking care of/spending time with my family, such as now. That’s generally perfectly adequate for modding, but not even close for raiding.

And hour and a half? I can’t begin to imagine what it’s like to have that much free time I can schedule in advance for a game. In college, yeah sure I had that time. But not now.

Must be nice to have that flexibility. I don’t, and I can’t make it. If I’m lucky, I can plan things out two weeks in advance to have a couple of hours off after the kids finally go to bed. I’m not going to get into the details of my personal family issues in a public place, but I don’t have the same option you do.

But let’s say that I did, and that I could choose one night that would work. For me to be able to join a raid, that means everyone else who’s raiding would also need to be available on that night. And at the time for me, which, give different time zones, might be 3am for you. Or the middle of the day. So we couldn’t raid together anyway. And I haven’t seen anyone advertising when they’re raiding, to see who can join — rather, you have to join the klan first to find out.

So given that, which one do I choose? Three active raiding klans, but which one meets my hypothetical availability — if any?

So, back to my original point — “so incredibly simple to do”. I’m just not seeing it.

Thanks, Corey. My tour goes otherwise. But I’m not the primary one interested in medals anyway, that would be Lady Banhammer. And she’s quite happy where she is right now. So that’s another issue. To raid, that would mean I (or a hypothetical single-character player) would have to leave a klan they enjoy the interaction with in order to join a raiding klan, if their klan weren’t raiding effectively. Not ideal.

And in any case, she couldn’t join, because the klans tend to kick out leeches — those who join raids but don’t participate. Which is about all I could ever be, except on extremely rare cirgreat timesstances.

So, what would I like to see? A way for “casual” players like myself to have chances at medals separate from the klans. It’s been suggested before and it’s my favorite so far, creating two parallel bracket structures, one for klan players and one for solo players. And no switching; you commit to which one you want every season.

Because it’d seed you differently. Klan players go into klan pods, solo players into solo pods. Easy to code. Two DBs field, one for “player domination type this season”, one for “domination pod type this season”; one radio bumon on a Dom page to select where you want to play before you’re automatically seeded — no one can play without “signing up”; seed logic puts you in a domination pod with the same type as the player’s domination type. Restrict the “join raid” bumon so you can’t do it if you’ve signed up for solo play, and you’re done.

Actually believe it or not TSB is home to a surprising number of female players. With the exception of Pants calling people fat and moon calling people horseface most of us are actually pretty well behaved as well.

One thing that seems to be a positive for TSB is that we don’t actually take the game too seriously. Some people are competitive while some take it as a place to jack around in. The fact that we all seem to get along okay highlights the benefits of a low stress klan structure.

Nah, but seriously. They do pick on RPers, regardless of whether they are good or bad, and that discourages people from even trying. ...but the point of the thread, I think is that that’s not an issue that warrants mod/creator intervention (and therefore, neither is domination).

You know the klan isn’t entirely Dr_Kraid and Gigerth alts, right? That there are more than two people inside of it, some of whom who actually enjoy roleplaying?
