Wow...This Week is...Awkward.ravenblooDDarkdreams Posted:
It’s a parody of howstuffworks.com – I’m not sure how much there is to get beyond that.
I think the problem is this: Most of the rest of the forums are actually parodies of people, not forums. A subset of the population with a set of traits is picked, and those traits are magnified and distorted. A forum is then picked that may be a parody of a real life forum frequented by said people and named accordingly.
This is simply a parody of a forum. There isn’t a real clear definition of who would hang out at howstuffworks.com, and even if there was, those people definately would not hang out at howstuffbreaks.com – so we’re left wondering who would actually frequent howstuffbreaks.com and how to pigeonhole and distort them.
Possibly the willItBlend.com people? (view post) |

Just to nitpick… you might be better off using the PruneBook and no male reproductive organblaster. (bumuming you just chuck the prunebook when you’re done w/ it and have decent frugality)
edit: upon checking the numbers – by decent I apparently mean 6. (view post) |

Domination Card Exploit AddressedSnott Posted:
Yeah, clearly it was going to have to be dealt with eventually and probably sooner rather than later. PvP with glareing exploits like that just doesn’t work and domination is one of the few things to actually do while waiting for new content. I just wanted to counterbalance the “we did ET a favor – he should reward us!!” posts a bit. (view post) |

Really? You can’t think of anything he might have been doing that could have been more important to the long term viability of the game?
Perhaps he was buliding some tools to be able to write content more quickly or to be able to log this type of crap more easily. Perhaps he was working on episode 2 content. Perhaps he was making chat work to better create and hold a community. Perhaps he was working on advertising, or creating more uses for brownie points. Perhaps he was sorting through applications for the programming job he posted earlier.
How many people a day do you think the game loses due to the lack of content? How many of you are considering leaving due to just a lack of anything to do?
How many people would leave as a result of domination being not quite fair? I look around and see maybe a couple hundred hardcore dom players, and I doubt that you’d all up and leave if the medals weren’t fair for another week or two.
You forced some guy across the internet to do something for you on your schedule. Good job. I hope you feel powerful and important. Excuse me if I don’t think that it necessarily means you deserve an e-peen.
(that being said – I’m glad the bug got fixed) (view post) |

Discussion about Episode 2...I’d like to see a bit more strategy added to skill choice in battle. The ego/damage things for emo kids is a good start.
I’m imagining attack chains based on context sensitive responses to your attacks. For example, you post a picture of your mammary glands. If the forum’s reply shows interest, then following that up with threatening to contact the authorities would do extra damage. (view post) |

Non-Paying but Active Members Speak Up!So putting recent forum events in perspective I’m wondering what other paying members are thinking about the future of the game and what you think needs to be done to “clean-up” things a bit?
or
Maybe you think things are going great and would like to see more internet anarchy. It’s just part of the game and that’s what makes Forumwarz so great.
Either way I would like to hear your opinion.

Paying Members Speak UpI would bet that if you asked people over 30 what they like about this game and what direction it should go in, you’d get a different answer than if you asked people under 20.
It might be interesting to see the responses to a thread entitled “Old Members Speak Up”, and to compare that to the general suggestions thread.
Similarly, I think that the types of people who donate to online games is a subset of the people who play them, and think it might be interesting to know what they liked about the game that made it worth donating to and what they want to see out of it in the future.
I haven’t seen any insinuation that the people who’ve donated are better, or more important or that they should be listened to more than those who haven’t. It’s easy to read that as an unspoked bumumption of the title, but it isn’t actually written there. (view post) |

Paying Members Speak UpOn a more serious note – I do think that TSB could stand to tone it down a bit.
I see them as the rough equivalent to Bartle’s clubs, and while there is nothing wrong with clubs per se, too many of them drive away the other suits. (view post) |

Paying Members Speak UpET needs to add an a set of bumons to the bottom of the screen when viewing flamebate threads. We’ll calp this set of bumons an action bar. This action bar would allow you to automatically post text of various inane types. Having such a bar would make it much easier to troll flamebate. (view post) |

I bumumed 19 for the baseline min for the zombie forum. Picking either 18 or 20 for the baseline breaks a lot more datapoints than the one I mentioned.
I’m bumuming the baselines are integers. I have no reason to think that they’re not – though I suppose it could be something odd like the pwnage required range for threads which seems to be a non-inclusive range (eg. 201-299). (view post) |

The Sisterhood presents: Secondary Stats and What They Do (Spoilers and Math within!)I can’t get your defense formula to work. It predicts among other things that you should get hit for 17 to 18 with a defense of 3 in the furry farm and you don’t. You get hit for 16 to 17.
Edit: Or if you want a datapoint someone is more likely be able to test. bumuming that I’m reading it right, your formula says that the min you should get hit for in the zombie forum with 8 defense is 18, and I’ve gotten hit for 17. (view post) |

The Sisterhood presents: Secondary Stats and What They Do (Spoilers and Math within!)This is what FoL has.
Essentially your attacks double in power at 14.
An interesting side effect is that there are a discrete number of damages that can be done for each attack regardless of the offense. Flirt can do 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 damage with offense 1. It can do 10, 12, 14, 15, or 17 damage with offense 10. I don’t believe that you can do 11 damage with flirt at offense 10.
You shouldn’t get any odd numbers with an offense of 14. (view post) |

Episode 2: Would you Pay?I’d probably end up giving more money to the game with donation model than if I had to pay. If I had to pay I’d pay the amount specified and that’s it.
Also, if it is pay to play, make it cheap. I too would love to throw pop-cap a couple bucks, but just pirate their games and give them nothing since they’re not worth the amount that they actually charge. (view post) |

F*** gambling!Martingale does increase your chances of winning. It just also decreases the payout from winning and increases the cost of losing to compensate.
In the short term, you have a much better chance of winning. In the long term the resuls will be the same as if you had just made a bunch of big bets.
It’s like a reverse lottery. In a lottery you have a very small chance of winning a lot of money and a very big chance to lose a little amount of money. Using martingale you have a very good chance to win a small amount of money, and a very small chance to lose it all.
If you’re content to gain a small amount of money, you have a good chance of actually doing that. Once you start trying to double the amount you started out with you’re going to eventually lose. Just like if you’re content to lose a small amount of money, the lottery is a good way to do it. If you want to throw away millions, you might risk actually winning.
It seems that since I don’t play the lottery because I don’t have sufficient chance to win, I should use Martingales…. I guess I may have done some expected value calculations at some point. (view post) |
