Domination Card Exploit AddressedAll right, I’m done. You are obviously not getting my point. Continue being argumentative and unnecessarily aggressive. I’ve tried explaining the reasoning to you numerous times now and you’re just refusing to see it. Please continue on, as this sort of deliberate cheating really won’t affect me anymore. (view post) |

Domination Card Exploit AddressedSo all the erroneously removed scoops were returned to every player that was affected, Velveteen? Could we get anyone’s confirmation that that has happened?
Velveteen Posted:
But you did hurt other players; regardless of whether you meant to or not, you did cause damage to those players and I have yet to see any remorse on your (or anyone else’s) side acknowledging that fact. (view post) |

Domination Card Exploit AddressedWell thank you for the clarification, Arktor. Perhaps the most fair solution to the problem your klan has caused would be to completely wipe out this week’s Domination competition. And again, I ask you if you posted a thread to inform players of what your klan was going to do (without revealing the exact details of the exploit, of course) since that would seem to be the most reasonable solution to prevent the “accusations” of cheating that are now being levied your klan’s way.
The issue is a moral one, I think: people that had NOT used this exploit were being hammered by people that were. That doesn’t exactly give you or your klan a good moral high ground.
Of course, if Evil Trout posts to say that s/he was informed of your actions before you underwent them, things might be a bit different. (view post) |

Domination Card Exploit AddressedThe fault is in that your method caused “harm” to other players by preventing them from getting medals they otherwise could have gotten were it not for your cheating. I really don’t think there would have been a way for you and your Klan to announce to everyone that you were planning on doing that, but a token effort would have been nice and would have solidified your position that you were doing it for reasons other than personal gain. Did you (or any of your Klan members) post a thread telling people you would be purposely using an exploit in a very visible fashion? The fact that you told no one beforehand of your plan really makes it appear moreso that you’re just claiming the high road now that you’ve gotten caught in the act. (view post) |

Domination Card Exploit AddressedWet Sprocket, the point I was making was that these shenanigans could very easily have frustrated and discouraged new players from wanting to participate because of the fear that they’ll once again be victims of another bout of cheating like this. Why would anyone continue to play a game that seems to be stacked against them from the very beginning?
I was liking it; it was fun. However, how do I know this won’t happen again for similar reasons? You know, someone finds an exploit that actively damages other players instead of merely profiting themselves? I don’t know if you play Kingdom of Loathing, but there was an infinite meat bug exploit a long time ago that was aggravating because not only did it allow players to VASTLY increase their resources, but it allowed them to purchase items they never would have otherwise been able to afford in order to get the edge in PvPing against people who did not use said exploit. It’s cheating and it makes the game less fun for a lot of people. (view post) |

Domination Card Exploit AddressedAhhhh, I see. I apologize; I just bumumed when I heard of last-minute Domination Card shenanigans (and since it appeared that was exactly what had happened to me), I just bumumed it was from the culprits responsible for the other raids that were apparently exactly alike. My mistake. Like I said, I am a newer player to Dominations, and jumped to conclusions. For that, I am sorry.
However, my point remains the same. How do I know that person (or Klan) wasn’t in on this exploit exploiting? How do I know that person wasn’t doing that to ‘prove a point’ as well? When there’s a history of cheating happening at the exact same time in the exact same manner, it’s reasonable to bumume that it’s from the same source.
It’s fine; I simply will not play Dominations and will not be donating in the future. I am, after all, only one person so it won’t matter that much. The fact that this whole situation bothered me so much is an indication of how much I had actually started to enjoy this game. I can consider this whole thing a wake-up call, and one I’m glad I received now rather than later. (view post) |

Domination Card Exploit AddressedSeriously, I was one of the people that got screwed out of a medal. Big deal, you say? Au contraire; it was going to be my first medal. I just started getting into Dominations because of my Klan leader’s encouragement and it took a lot of work for us to get a Klan raid organized so we all managed to get SOMETHING done. What was the result of all our work and toils? Getting zapped at the last possible second, making all our efforts worth absolutely NOTHING.
I understand that people that have been playing longer would (and should) be able to easily shrug off these kinds of shenanigans with an ‘oh well’ cavalier attitude, but for newer players such as myself, this was an extremely frustrating thing to have happen. Like rohina said, I thought I was competing in a fair contest, not one that was going to be cheated at. You say that what you did was for the good of everyone? Fine. Rest on your laurels, knowing that you likely just ****ed off a number of newer players and quite possibly discouraged many of them from playing again.
In fact, this whole cheating thing has made me re-evaluate not only my decision to play Dominations but also to reconsider my monetary donation to the game. Why should I pay good money to support a fun game that’s likely just going to be poisoned by people cheating “to prove a point?”
Like I said earlier, rest on your laurels, ladies and gentlemen. You’ve just effectively nuked future donations from this user. Congratulations. (view post) |
